Cancel a phone or broadband contract
For mobile, broadband or TV. If you want to keep your phone number and move it to another provider, say so here.
What to look out for
- Want to keep your number? Do not cancel before your new provider has arranged the transfer, or you may lose the number.
- Check whether you are still in a minimum contract term; if so, an early termination charge may apply.
- Return borrowed equipment such as a router and ask for a receipt.
- Keep your final bill and your proof of posting, in case of a later dispute over charges.
FAQ
- Can I keep my phone number?
- Yes. Ask your new provider to arrange the transfer. Fill in the field and the letter asks your old provider to keep the number available.
- What if I am still in contract?
- The contract normally runs to the end of the term, or an early termination charge applies. You can still give notice now to take effect on the contract end date.
