Request your payslips
Employees are entitled to an itemised pay statement. This letter requests your payslips formally and in writing.
What to look out for
- You often need payslips for a mortgage application, a tenancy reference, a benefit claim or your tax return.
- A former employer should still be able to provide your payslips and your P60 for the relevant year.
- Need your P60 or a P45 as well? Say so in the period field so it is included in the request.
- Keep a copy of this letter as proof that you asked, and when.
FAQ
- Does my employer have to provide this?
- Employees are entitled to an itemised pay statement for each payment of wages. You can also ask a former employer for copies relating to your employment.
- What if I get no reply?
- This letter is your evidence that you asked. If nothing happens, take advice from Acas, your union or Citizens Advice about the next step.
